How often should I schedule routine cleanings and exams?

Most patients only need to schedule dental exams and cleanings twice per year. If you have periodontal disease or are on the verge of developing periodontal disease, we may recommend that you visit our office three or more times per year for periodontal maintenance. Routine dental visits provide our team with an opportunity to examine your teeth and gums and diagnose and treat dental issues, should any develop.

Will professional teeth cleanings whiten my teeth?

When your hygienist polishes your teeth, they will use a special gritty toothpaste that is designed to scrub the teeth and lift surface-level stains. This may lighten your teeth a little bit, but it won’t be very noticeable to others. If you are interested in achieving a consistently white smile, please speak with our team about our professional teeth whitening services. You may be able to leave your visit with both cleaner and brighter teeth!

Are professional teeth cleanings and dental exams covered by insurance?

Most insurance providers offer coverage for routine dental visits, so if you have dental insurance, we recommend using your benefits to their fullest and scheduling at least two dental cleanings and exams per year. If you are uninsured, our office also accepts Medicaid, which covers routine visits for children, and we provide in-house financing and an in-house membership plan, which can help make preventive dental care much more accessible and affordable for patients of all different financial backgrounds.
