Porcelain Veneers vs. Lumineers

While Veneers and Lumineers can achieve many of the same goals, there are still crucial differences between the two. Both can be described as thin ‘shells’ that are bonded to the front of your teeth, but traditional veneers are slightly thicker. Because of this, the enamel of your teeth often has to be reshaped in order to receive traditional veneers, making the procedure non-reversible. On the other hand, Lumineers are only about the thickness of a contact lens, so they don’t require enamel to be removed. Otherwise, they’re both long-lasting, comprehensive cosmetic solutions. If you’re not sure which is right for you, our team can help you make the best decision.

How Do The Veneer and Lumineer Procedures Work?

After you’ve completed your initial consultation and your veneers or lumineers have been custom-made, you’ll return for a second appointment where they’ll be applied. Because traditional veneers require enamel to be removed, a local anesthetic is used to make sure the procedure is pain-free. Lumineers don’t call for any reshaping, so no anesthetic is necessary. Either way, once the teeth are ready your veneers or Lumineers will be bonded to the teeth and secured with the assistance of a curing light.

How Much Do Veneers and Lumineers Cost?

Because each patient’s treatment plan will be customized to their dental needs, the cost of veneers can vary. Generally speaking, Lumineers are often more expensive than veneers. The final price of either cosmetic treatment will often depend on the number of teeth that need veneers. Fortunately, at The Smile Club, we’re committed to making dental care affordable. We’re in-network with most major insurance providers and accept a variety of payment methods. For uninsured patients we even offer in-house financing and a dental membership plan.
